This Bad Boy is my 1960 Standard Microbus.  I've had it since 96 or so and back then I replaced both rockers and one corner.  It's got just over 50,000 mi. on the odometer.  I had it painted by some idiots in Winnipeg ... and I'm currently in the process of painting it myself - a slow process.
Winnipeg - 1997 or so.

What's that little dog doing in there?
This is a pic sans hubcaps.  We lived in the little yellow house for a few years til moving to Kingston.  The paint job on the Mango Warrior (the bus) didn't look so bad from a distance but ... I was unhappy with it.

The old bus has been around.  It's travelled over most of Western Canada and Ontario.  I have a web site that I made a few years ago in which I documented the rocker repair and the first paint job.  If I ever locate that site I'll add a link.  In the fall of 2002, a stud came loose on one of my heads.  I pulled the motor and found a new set of heads - NOS heads manufactured in '61 - found about 10 miles from home in Kingston - what are the odds?  Anyway, since I had the motor out I figured I would paint the engine bay.  Since I was painting the engine bay I figured I would paint the interior - so - I stipped the interior completely. Since I was painting the engine bay and the interior - damn - might as well paint the exterior.  Since writing the above - I located one of my old sites.

Buses by the Falls - held in conjuction with the June Jitterbug in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Lots of buses and other early VW's attend.  This first red 21 window is from NY and the paisley bus behind my bus is from NJ.  Of course there were tons of Ontario buses in attendence.

So ... the interior and the exterior above the belt line have been painted.  I'm a bit amazed as to how well it turned out.  I had never painted a car before.  I do have a pretty good Craftsman 6 hp compressor and a handy little sandblaster so ... everything was done properly.  At the end of the day - I've got 2 coats of POR-15 on the interior under primer and paint, and about 4 coats of epoxy primer under the high-build primer and maybe 4 coats of Seagull Grey on top of the high-build. I'm in the process of putting the interior back in and then I'll paint the exterior below the beltline. The colour is the same as that on the engine bay door, leaning on the front - that is very close to the original mango-green.

This is where I painted the exterior and interior.
